Seasoned industry veteran will provide value to clients through disciplined management.

Mancini•Duffy is pleased to announce the promotion of Thomas Cavanagh, AIA, LEED AP, to the roles of principal and executive vice president of the firm. Tom joined Mancini•Duffy in early 2014, and has been instrumental in the management of its architectural projects, such as the build-out of the 32-story, 250-room Tommie Hotel in Midtown Manhattan and the building renovation and new building addition at 17 John Street.

“In his new role, Tom will work with our project managers to streamline the delivery process,” explained Christian D. Giordano, Mancini•Duffy’s President. “We’re entering a period of growth, so it’s important that we manage that growth wisely. So as we hire more people and are engaged with ever-more ambitious projects, we’ll be able to meet—and even surpass—our clients’ expectations for quality and reliability.”

Tom excels at complex, multi-teamed efforts and has held a variety of leadership roles throughout his career. He’s been a client: at Barclays Capital and St. John’s University, he directed architectural and interior design work, as well as the development of capital project master plans for real estate holdings. He’s held senior positions at Swanke Hayden Connell, handling large-scale office interior and architectural projects, and at Gensler, where he also managed a studio of professionals. At the real estate firm of Jones Lang LaSalle, Tom led the team responsible for the infrastructure and technology of all critical systems at the Bank of America Tower, currently New York City’s third tallest building.

“Tom is the perfect choice for this role,” added Mancini•Duffy Co-chairman and Chief Operating Officer Ted Hammer, “because his calm, low-key demeanor reassures his clients. Yet he also knows how to motivate his team to perform at its best. And he always works hard to make sure everyone’s on the same page. He embodies the hands-on approach to our projects that Mancini•Duffy clients have come to depend on.”

An announcement about Ralph Mancini from our firm

 
We are deeply saddened to announce that Mancini•Duffy founder Ralph Mancini passed away Saturday night.
 
Ralph was a loving parent and husband to his family, an inspiration to everyone he worked with, a source of great reassurance to his clients, and the object of genuine respect among his colleagues in the industry.
 
His was the proverbial American success story—he went from humble beginnings to heading a firm that helped change the way some of the most important companies in the world do business, all in a handful of decades.
 
We here at Mancini•Duffy loved him dearly. You couldn't help but love him. He will be sorely missed.
 
For those wishing to pay their respects, Ralph's wake will be held at the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home at 412 Willis Avenue in Williston Park, NY on Wednesday from 7 PM to 9:30 PM, and on Thursday from 2 PM to 5 PM, and 7 PM to 9:30 PM.
 
The funeral will be held on Friday at 11:15 AM at the Church of St. Aidan at 505 Willis Avenue in Williston Park, with the burial to follow at the Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, NY.

Accomplished Project Designer and Leader Bolsters Team with International Pedigree 


Mancini•Duffy, a leading architectural and interiors practice, in expanding its team with the next generation of professionals, has named Daniel Rojas to serve as its Architectural Design Director. Mr. Rojas brings more than a decade of experience to the firm, and a background in high-profile, mixed-use, corporate, hospitality and cultural projects in the United States, Asia, South America and Europe. He brings his expertise and international perspective to complement the expansive architectural, design and planning experience present within the Mancini•Duffy team.

“Mancini•Duffy is an extremely well-rounded firm with an impressive history – I’m excited to add my design narrative to its ongoing story. Working with such talented and established design professionals is a truly wonderful opportunity, and I’m very pleased at the opportunity to become part of this established team,” said Mr. Rojas. “There are many intriguing projects completed and in the works, and it will be wonderful to be part of this firm’s future.”

Mr. Rojas’ experience is comprehensive, and he has been involved in projects such as the 63,000-square-foot conversion from commercial to residential at 15 Union Square West and the 75,000-square-foot James Hotel, both in New York City. Internationally, he worked on Media Corp’s 808,000-square-foot commercial development in Singapore and the 540,000-square-foot New Chongquing library in Chongquing, China, among other works. He received his M. S. in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, a B.S in Architecture from Pratt Institute School of Architecture, and also participated in Pratt’s Rome Program and other Bachelor of Architecture programs in Chile and Colombia.
